Since 2014, Perth Mint has annually released the Wedge Tail Eagle series, with all designs crafted by John Mercanti. While earlier designs were repeated, each year since 2018 has brought a fresh design to the reverse.

The 2024 Wedge Tail Eagle holds special significance for Perth Mint. The reverse of these coins includes two notable features for 2024. Firstly, an engraving marking the 10th ANNIVERSARY commemorates the decade-long journey of the series from 2014 to 2024. Additionally, a P125 mint mark pays tribute to the 125th anniversary of Perth Mint’s establishment in 1899.

On the obverse of the 2024 1 oz Silver Wedge Tail Eagle, you’ll find a first-generation portrait of His Majesty King Charles III, elegantly designed by Dan Thorne. This left-profile bust depicts Charles III in a suit without a crown.

Turning to the reverse of 2024 Australian Silver Wedge Tail Eagles, John Mercanti presents a captivating 10th-anniversary design. The eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide as it flies directly overhead, casting its shadow against the sunlit sky. The stylized sun rays extend beyond the frame of the eagle, adding to the coin’s visual appeal.
