The Four Guardians of Chinese mythology have long been influential in shaping Chinese culture, from military strategies to city layouts. Ancient cities were built with walls and gates aligning with the Four Guardians’ positions, while military leaders would incorporate their symbolic qualities into tactical decisions. These mystical figures also connect to the concepts of yin and yang, as well as the five traditional elements. Right now, 2024 1 oz Colorized Australian Silver Chinese Myths and Legends Lan Four Guardian Coins are available from BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
Each 2024 1 oz Colorized Australian Silver Chinese Myths and Legends Lan Four Guardian Coin comes in an acrylic capsule. A total of 5,000 coins were minted for this release, with only 4,000 packaged inside capsules.
The Black Turtle, which is sometimes shown intertwined with a snake, represents winter and the water element. It is a symbol of wisdom, longevity, and endurance. The pairing of the turtle and the snake embodies the unity of heaven and earth, where the turtle’s shell is thought to represent the heavens, and its flat underside symbolizes the earth.
On the obverse of the 2024 Colorized Australian Silver Chinese Myths and Legends Lan Four Guardians Coin, you’ll find a portrait of King Charles III. This is the first time his likeness has been featured on Australian coins, with a left-profile portrait showing him without a crown. This effigy was designed by Dan Thorne in 2024.
The reverse side of the 2024 1 oz Colorized Silver Myths and Legends Four Guardians Lan Coin depicts the Four Guardians of Chinese mythology. The turtle is at the center, with a tiger on the left, a dragon at the bottom, and a phoenix flying above. A snake is also shown alongside the turtle. The P125 mint mark highlights the Perth Mint’s 125th anniversary.
