Mesa Verde, which means “green table” in Spanish, is characterized by its high, flat plateaus and deep canyons. The park’s terrain includes mesas, cliffs, and canyons formed by erosion. The cliff dwellings were built into alcoves along the canyon walls, providing natural protection and access to resources.

Each 2024 1 oz Colorized Native America the Beautiful Colorado Silver Coin is packaged in plastic capsules with a display box and is accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity from the mint.

On the obverse, discover a traditional sipapu, a symbolic hole in the floor of kivas or pithouses. This design pays homage to the Ancestral Puebloans’ architectural ingenuity as they transitioned from pit houses to elaborate cliff dwellings in the late 12th century. The sipapu represents a connection to their spiritual roots and cultural evolution.

The reverse side features a common design for the series. At the heart is a majestic bald eagle, surrounded by an eight-pointed star. Arrowheads placed between the star’s points add intricate detail to this iconic representation.
