The Native America the Beautiful Series is a unique collection celebrating significant sites throughout North America through the perspective of indigenous tribes. For Delaware, the Lenni Lenape people are highlighted with a design depicting a region they called Canaresse, now known as Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge. Presently, 2024 1 oz Colorized Native America the Beautiful Delaware Silver Coins are available from BullionMax.
Coin Highlights:
Each 2024 1 oz Colorized Native America the Beautiful Delaware Silver Coin available here is individually packaged. The coins are encased in a capsule and placed within a presentation box by the mint. Each one comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. This version of the coin has colorized details on the obverse, highlighting the natural beauty of Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge.
The Lenni Lenape, also known as the Delaware people, originally lived in a broad area that includes present-day eastern Pennsylvania, New Jersey, southeastern New York, and northern Delaware. The Lenape spoke dialects of the Algonquian language family. Their language, called Unami or Delaware, is part of the Eastern Algonquian branch. While the language is now considered endangered, efforts are ongoing to preserve and revitalize it among Lenape communities.
The obverse design of the 2024 Colorized NATB Delaware Silver Coin features Canadian geese in Bombay Hook National Wildlife Refuge. The Lenape people referred to this area as Canaresse, meaning “at the thickets.” The English name comes from the Dutch “Boombjes Hoeck,” translating to “little-tree point.”
The reverse side of the 2024 1 oz Colorized Delaware Silver Coin displays the series’ common design. This includes an American bald eagle’s head at the center of an eight-pointed star, with eight arrowheads between each point of the star.
