Diwali, also known as Deepavali, is a major festival celebrated by Hindu communities around the world. Known as the “Festival of Lights,” Diwali represents the triumph of light over darkness and good over evil. The festival usually takes place between October and November, depending on the lunar calendar. Right now, 2024 1 oz Silver Happy Diwali Medallions are available from BullionMax.
Medal Highlights:
Diwali’s origins come from ancient Hindu mythology, with different regions linking the celebration to various stories. In North India, it marks Lord Rama’s return to Ayodhya after defeating the demon king Ravana. In South India, it commemorates Lord Krishna’s victory over the demon Narakasura. Despite these differences, the festival’s message of victory and hope remains the same.
Each 2024 1 oz Silver Happy Diwali Medallion is individually packaged, featuring 1 Troy ounce of .9999 pure silver with a 24-karat gold plating on both sides. The medallions come in a black presentation case from Perth Mint and are housed in a Diwali-themed box along with a Certificate of Authenticity.
The obverse of the 2024 Silver Happy Diwali Medallion shows Ganesha seated on a cushion. Ganesha, also called Ganpati or Vinayaka, is one of the most beloved deities in Hinduism. Recognizable by his elephant head, Ganesha is known as the remover of obstacles and is the god of wisdom and learning. He is often depicted with a large belly, multiple arms, and riding a mouse, which signifies his ability to overcome even the smallest challenges.
On the reverse of the 1 oz Silver Happy Diwali Medallion, you’ll find an image of Lakshmi sitting on a lotus flower. Lakshmi is the Hindu goddess of wealth and prosperity. She is often shown as a beautiful woman with four arms, seated or standing on a lotus, holding lotus buds, with gold coins flowing from her hands, symbolizing abundance and blessings.
