The Tudor Dragon entered the Royal Arms through the Tudor Dynasty, which has its origins in Wales. Henry VII, Henry VIII’s father and the first Tudor monarch, was born at Pembroke Castle in Wales. His paternal grandfather was Owen Tudor, and his father was Edmund Tudor, 1st Earl of Richmond. This made Henry VII half-Welsh by ancestry.
On the obverse of the 2024 British Silver Tudor Beasts The Tudor Dragon Coins is King Charles III. His Majesty made his debut in this series in mid-2023, with this left-profile bust crafted by Martin Jennings. This design of Charles III shows him without a crown, offering a contrast to the crowned right-profile portraits of previous monarchs.
