Morgan Silver Dollars were last struck in 1921, resuming the production of silver dollars by the US Mint. The last silver dollar before this was the 1904 Morgan Dollar. No silver dollars were minted during the 1910s and World War I. After the war, the mint decided to restart silver dollar production with a new design. Until a new design was ready, the mint used the Morgan Dollar design from January to mid-December 1921.
The obverse of the 2024 Morgan Dollar Coin features George T. Morgan’s original bust of Liberty. This left-profile image shows Liberty with a coronet crown and laurel wreath in her hair, with a Phrygian cap at the back of her head.
On the reverse side of the 2024 Morgan Silver Dollars, you’ll find another design by Morgan. This image shows the bald eagle in a front-facing pose with its wings spread wide. The eagle’s talons hold the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace.
