The Morgan Silver Dollar was reintroduced in 2021 by the United States Mint to commemorate the centennial of its last minting in 1921. Alongside it, a modern version of the Peace Dollar was also released to celebrate its first strike 100 years ago. The Morgan Silver Dollar, last minted for circulation in 1921, was designed by George T. Morgan. Invited from the United Kingdom by the US Mint’s Director, Morgan became an Assistant Engraver and created the Morgan Dollar. He later became the 7th Chief Engraver of the United States Mint in 1917, a position he held until his death in 1925.
Each 2024 Morgan Silver Dollar Coin is available in flawless condition. Coins graded Mint State 70 have the complete original mint luster and no imperfections. The First Day of Issue designation indicates coins that were submitted for grading within the first 24 hours of their release by the US Mint.
The obverse of the 2024 Morgan Dollar Coins features George T. Morgan’s depiction of Lady Liberty. This design shows Liberty in a left-profile relief, following the Greco-Roman style common in 19th-century American coinage. She wears a Phrygian cap adorned with a coronet crown and laurel wreath.
On the reverse side of 2024 Morgan Silver Dollars, you’ll find another design by Morgan: a unique take on the heraldic eagle. This front-facing eagle spreads its wings wide, with its talons gripping arrows and an olive branch, symbolizing war and peace.
