The Morgan Dollar has a unique history. Its introduction in 1878 marked the return of silver dollar coining after a five-year hiatus following the end of the Seated Liberty Dollar series in 1873. The Morgan was minted annually from 1878 to 1904, then once more in 1921 before being replaced.
On the obverse of the 2024 Morgan Dollar Coins is Lady Liberty, designed by George T. Morgan. This left-profile portrait shows Liberty in a classic Greco-Roman style, wearing a Phrygian cap, coronet crown, and laurel wreath.
The reverse of the 2024 Morgan Silver Dollar features Morgan’s heraldic eagle design. The American bald eagle is depicted with its wings spread wide, holding arrows and an olive branch, symbolizing both war and peace.
