The Morgan Silver Dollar is one of the most beloved designs in the history of US silver dollars. First introduced in 1878, these coins were minted annually until 1904 and then once more in 1921. In 2021, the US Mint brought back the Morgan Dollar as a bullion coin to celebrate the centennial of its last issue. Coin Highlights:
The Morgan Dollar followed the Seated Liberty Dollar as the second silver dollar design to see extensive use in the United States. The first US silver dollar was the 1804 issue, discontinued in 1806 due to hoarding. The Seated Liberty Dollar was minted from 1840 to 1873, succeeded by the Morgan Dollar. The last silver dollar series was the Peace Dollar, produced from 1921 to 1928 and briefly again in 1934 and 1935. Though the Seated Liberty Dollar had a longer production span, the Morgan Dollar saw higher mintage numbers over its lifetime.
Each 2024 Morgan Silver Dollar Coin we offer is in perfect condition as certified by the PCGS. Coins graded Mint State 70 exhibit full, original mint luster and no visible imperfections. First Strike coins are those received by the PCGS for certification within 30 days of their release by the US Mint.
On the obverse of the 2024 Morgan Dollar Coin is a left-profile portrait of Lady Liberty. Designed by George T. Morgan, it shows Liberty wearing a Phrygian cap, coronet crown, and a laurel wreath, with 13 stars encircling the bust.
The reverse of the 2024 Morgan Silver Dollar features the heraldic eagle of the United States, also designed by Morgan. This image shows the American bald eagle with widespread wings, holding the arrows of war and the olive branch of peace.
