Coin Highlights:
In 1918, around 300 million Morgan Silver Dollars were melted down into bars to aid the British. Following this, the Pittman Act of 1918 mandated the US Mint to produce millions of new Silver Dollars, leading to a contest for a new design, which ultimately resulted in the creation of the Peace Silver Dollar.
The obverse of the 2024 Peace Dollar Coin features Lady Liberty in left-profile relief wearing a radiant crown. This iconic image was designed by Anthony de Francisci, inspired by his wife, Teresa.
On the reverse side of the 2024 Silver Dollar Coin, a bald eagle is shown perched on a rock in right-profile relief, with the Sun illuminating the scene from below. This design was also crafted by Anthony de Francisci.
The 2024 Peace Silver Dollar Coin comes in a PCGS protective plastic slab. These coins have been graded as Mint State 70 by the Professional Coin Grading Service, indicating they have their full, original mint luster without any flaws visible under 5x magnification. Additionally, they have the First Strike designation, meaning the PCGS received them for grading within 30 days of their initial release.
