The obverse of the 2024-S Proof Peace Silver Dollar features Lady Liberty in left-profile relief. Anthony de Francisci’s design shows Liberty with soft facial features, flowing hair, and a radiant crown of light atop her head. Unique to this design, the inscription “IN GOD WE TRVST” uses a Latin-style “V” for the “U.”

On the reverse, the 2024-S Proof Peace Dollar displays an American bald eagle resting on a rock ledge, holding an olive branch. Designed by de Francisci, this image symbolizes the nation’s desire for peace after World War I, with the eagle’s wings at its side and rays of light shining from the horizon.

The original Peace Dollar was introduced following the discontinuation of the Morgan Dollar, which had been struck from 1878 to 1904, and again in 1921. Created to symbolize the return to peacetime, the Peace Dollar represents the ideals of peace and unity. Though minted in smaller quantities than the Morgan Dollar, the Peace Dollar is cherished by collectors today.
