The HMS Bounty’s first mission for the Royal Navy ended in one of the most infamous mutinies in naval history. Tensions between the crew and Lieutenant Bligh came to a head near the Friendly Islands, leading to a rebellion. Despite the mutiny, Bligh and his loyal crew were spared execution—a rarity in naval uprisings—and were instead set adrift in a small 23-foot launch.
