In the 17th and 18th centuries, Britannia became a symbol of British patriotism and imperial pride. She was frequently depicted in art and literature, often holding a trident to represent naval power, a shield with the Union Jack, and sometimes accompanied by a British lion.

The 2025 1/4 oz British Silver Britannia Coins come in Brilliant Uncirculated condition, individually packaged in a plastic flip or in multiples of 19 within protective tubes. The reverse of each coin features a stunning radial sunburst effect in the background, while the obverse includes a detailed guilloche pattern.

The obverse side of the 2025 British Silver Britannia Coins displays the first official portrait of King Charles III. This left-profile portrait, without a crown, was crafted by Martin Jennings for The Royal Mint in 2022 and appeared on British coins starting in 2023.

On the reverse side, you’ll find Britannia standing in front-facing relief. Designed by Philip Nathan in 1987, this image portrays Britannia holding a trident in her right hand and an olive branch in her left, resting on a Union Jack shield. She also wears a Corinthian helmet in this powerful design.
