Weinman’s design depicts Lady Liberty striding confidently towards the rising sun, symbolizing America’s forward-looking spirit and progress. She is draped in the American flag, with her right hand extended in a gesture of peace, while her left arm cradles branches of laurel and oak, representing civil and military glory. The overall composition conveys a sense of movement and optimism, capturing the nation’s aspirations in the early 20th century.
The obverse of the Silver Eagle features the classic Walking Liberty design by Adolph A. Weinman. This iconic image, introduced in 1916, shows Liberty walking confidently towards the sun with the American flag wrapped around her. It was first used on the half-dollar coin and remains a favorite in American numismatic history.
On the reverse, the 2025 Silver Eagles feature a modern bald eagle design by Emily Damstra. This design, introduced in July 2021, depicts the eagle in flight, with its wings spread wide and talons grasping an oak branch, showcasing strength and grace.
