Coin Highlights:
On the obverse of the 2025 1 oz Colorized Silver Koala Coin, you’ll find a portrait of King Charles III. This design was created by Dan Thorne in 2024 and marks the first time this effigy appears on Australian coins. The image shows the King in left-profile relief and without a crown.
The reverse side of the coin features artwork by Aleysha Howarth showing a koala resting on the branch of a gum tree. The design has been colorized to reflect the koala’s natural look, along with the tones and textures of the tree it’s perched on.
Koalas have soft, muted fur tones that help them blend into their surroundings. Their gray to brownish-gray fur allows them to stay hidden from predators in the eucalyptus forests they call home. This natural coloring plays a key role in their ability to stay safe in the wild.
Each 2025 1 oz Colorized Australian Silver Koala Coin is housed in a display card from the Perth Mint. The card includes vivid artwork showing a sunset over the Australian Outback. Both the coin and the packaging are part of a special release for the Brisbane Money Expo ANDA Show.
