The Ojibwe people, also known as the Chippewa, formed many communities around the Lake Michigan area, especially along its northern and eastern edges. Among these groups were the Grand Traverse Band, Little Traverse Bay Bands, and the Sault Tribe. While each community had its own culture and practices, they all shared the core values, language, and beliefs of the Anishinaabe people. Available now at BullionMax, the 2025 1 oz Colorized Native America the Beautiful Michigan Silver Coin honors this shared history and heritage.
Coin Highlights:
For the Ojibwe, Lake Michigan was more than a source of natural resources—it was deeply spiritual. They considered the lake to be alive, a home to powerful spirits known as manitous. It was an important part of their stories and traditions, with many sacred places located along its shores.
Each 2025 1 oz Colorized Native America the Beautiful Michigan Silver Coin from BullionMax is packaged in a clear capsule and placed inside a decorative presentation box. A themed outer sleeve adds to the presentation, and every coin comes with a Certificate of Authenticity. The reverse design is enhanced with full-color artwork that brings Lake Michigan and its surroundings to life.
The obverse side of the coin shows a detailed color image of Ojibwe individuals beside a wigwam near the lake. Wigwams were more than just shelters—they were organized to meet the family’s needs, with places to sleep, cook, and store food and supplies. Typically, a wigwam would house an extended family, with several of them grouped together to form villages during certain seasons.
On the reverse of the 2025 1 oz Colorized NATB Michigan Silver Coin, you’ll see the emblem used throughout this series. The main image is a bald eagle’s head in the center, surrounded by an eight-pointed star. Arrowheads between the star points represent unity, strength, and the deep cultural meaning shared across Native communities.
