Each coin features a micro-engraved letter on the reverse as a security feature.

2025 is the Year of the Wood Snake. In Chinese tradition, the Wood Snake combines the attributes of the snake with the Wood element, one of the Five Elements in Wu Xing (Wood, Fire, Earth, Metal, and Water). This adds a deeper layer of meaning to the zodiac sign for the year.

The obverse of the 2025 Australian Silver Lunar Snake Coins showcases the first appearance of King Charles III in this series. This is a new design for the Lunar Series III, which previously featured Queen Elizabeth II. King Charles III is depicted in a left-profile relief created by Dan Thorne.

On the reverse side, the 2025 1 oz Silver Lunar Snake Coin displays a coiled snake amidst a jungle scene. The background shows a winding river with mountains in the distance, while the snake is positioned in the foreground beneath overhanging leaves.
