The Buffalo Nickel was produced in 1912 in response to a need to rejuvenate America’s supply of five-cent pieces and was designed by James Earle Fraser. Fraser chose Great Plains-themed imagery for the coin, and the SilverTowne round reproduces the art that made the Buffalo Nickel a famous collector’s item after its time in circulation ended.

The SilverTowne Buffalo Stackable Silver Round comes in a plastic flip-top container, or in a protective plastic tube of twenty rounds. The grooved rim around both sides of the round makes it possible to easily stack the rounds and long them in place for hassle-free storage.

On the obverse field is an idealized image of a Native American in right-profile relief, reputedly created through inspiration by a combination of three different leaders of the early 20th century. The reverse features a bison supposed to have been based on a bison named Black Diamond in the Central Park Zoo.
