Monster boxes are the rugged green shoebox-sized crates the U.S. Mint uses for storing and transporting gold and silver American eagle bullion coins in quantities of 500. You’ll sometimes see U.S. Mint sealed monster boxes of American silver eagles for sale – please note these are not mint-sealed monster boxes. Instead, we’ve repacked official U.S. Mint-issued monster boxes with 25 tubes, each containing 20 1 oz American eagle silver coins. You will receive a fully-packed monster box containing 25 plastic storage tubes for 20 1 oz bullion-grade silver American eagles.
We select and pack our monster boxes with the silver eagle coins we have on-hand at the time of your order. You will receive coins from one or more random mintage years ranging from 1986-2021. Note: all 500 silver eagles will have the classic, Type 1 reverse design.
The obverse of the American silver eagle features Adolph A. Weinman’s famous “Walking Liberty” design, taken from the walking liberty half dollar coin (1916-947). Lady Liberty strides across the foreground, one arm cradling a bundle of olive branches, her right hand extended in greeting. Liberty wears a Phrygian conical cap (an ancient symbol of liberty) and is draped in the American flag. In the background, we see a sun on the horizon – possibly rising? Or setting? The inscriptions “LIBERTY” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” frame the obverse, and the mintage year is found just below Lady Liberty’s feet.
The reverse (back) side of the coin features the heraldic eagle of the United States. This version is John Mercanti’s update of the very first U.S. Mint Chief Engraver, Robert Scot’s, original eagle created in the 18th century. The eagle clutches the famous olive branch and arrows in its talons, a shield, and “E PLURIBUS UNUM” in banners on each outspread wing. This side also shows 13 stars representing the original colonies.
With a unique combination of classic design and a highly active, liquid market globally, silver American Eagle coins have a special place in the hearts of sound money enthusiasts in the United States and around the world. Add this monster box of silver eagles to your stack today and I bet you’ll be glad you did tomorrow…
