The Lunar Series coins highlight the 12 animals of the Chinese Zodiac, reflecting their cultural significance and the traits associated with each. The Year of the Snake, represented here, is one of the most intriguing elements in this traditional system.
On the obverse of the 2025 Australian Platinum Lunar Snake Coin, you’ll find a bust of King Charles III. This is the first time His Majesty appears on these coins, marking a historic shift from previous portraits of Queen Elizabeth II. Designed by Dan Thorne, the left-profile relief shows King Charles III without a crown.
The reverse side of the 2025 1 oz Platinum Lunar Snake Coin features a design by Sean Rogers, showing a snake coiled around bamboo branches. The detailed image includes leaves overhead, adding to the natural setting of the snake.
