The obverse field of the 1 oz American Eagle Platinum Coin features a unique design curated by John Mercanti, the former Chief Engraver of the US Mint. He created the Liberty head design which showcases the Statute of Liberty’s face staring at the viewer. Her crown is visible on top of her head. The inscriptions here include the word, “Liberty,” and the famous American phrase, “In God We Trust.”
The reverse field of the 1 oz American Platinum Eagle Coin featured a bald eagle flying high over a setting sun. This design comes from Thomas D. Rogers, a former Assistant Engraver at the US Mint. It includes the inscription, “United States of America,” along with the coin’s weight, metal content, purity, and face value.
