These 20-coin tubes are what the U.S. Mint uses for storing and transporting smaller quantities of gold and silver American eagle bullion coins in quantities of 20 each. (Buy a monster box of silver eagles and you’ll get 25 of these tubes.) These tubes of silver eagles are straight from U.S. Mint, each containing 20 1 oz American eagle silver coins from a random mintage year, 1986-2021, with the classic Type 1 reverse design. Note these are bullion-grade silver American eagles, minted at the West Point facility, lacking any mintmark.
As always, the obverse of the American silver eagle displays Adolph A. Weinman’s iconic “Walking Liberty,” adopted from the famous Walking Liberty fifty-cent coin which circulated from 1916-1947. We see Lady Liberty front and center, striding across an open plain, one arm bearing a bouquet of olive branches, her right hand extended invitingly. Liberty wears a high-waisted, flowing gown and is draped in the American flag. The sun rises in the background, its sharp rays somehow reminiscent of Jazz Age aesthetics. “LIBERTY” and “IN GOD WE TRUST” frame the scene, with the mintage year just below Lady Liberty’s feet.
One small but important note about this design: if you look closely, you’ll see that some foreground elements (the flag, Liberty’s hand, the olive branches) occlude portions of the word LIBERTY at the top. It’s subtle, but this tiny design complication is one of the most difficult for counterfeiters to replicate.
The obverse displays a heraldic eagle behind a shield, as designed by John Mercanti in 1986 specifically for the silver eagle coin. The eagle’s wings are spread and it holds in its beak a banner that reads “E PLURIBUS UNUM.” Additional inscriptions include “UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, 1 OZ. FINE SILVER – ONE DOLLAR.” Thirteen five-pointed stars above the eagle’s head represent the original 13 colonies at the founding of the United States of America in 1776.
Silver American eagle coins are globally-recognized, highly-liquid and just about always in demand. Silver eagles have a special place in the hearts of sound money enthusiasts right here in the U.S. (and they’re often less expensive than junk silver coins). Add a tube of 20 silver American eagles to your stack today!
