Obverse

This side of the Proof American Eagle 1 oz Gold Coin comes with an image of Lady Liberty. Designed in 1907 by Augustus Saint-Gaudens, this bust of Liberty is visible in front-facing relief with a torch in her right hand, an olive branch of peace in her left, rays of sunshine framing her figure from behind, and a ring of 50 stars around the design field.

Reverse

In this design element, the Proof American Eagle Gold Coin comes with the design of a family of American bald eagles. Exclusive to the release of American Eagle Gold Coins of all types, the image here shows a family of American bald eagles with the male flying back to the nest as a female guards the hatchling found within the nest. This image was created in 1986 by Miley Busiek.

History
